# FAQ page & SEO

## FAQ overview page

The plugin provides its own FAQ page, by default at `https://your-domain.com/faq`. You can change the path in the [plugin configuration](/faq-fuer-seo/english-documentation/konfiguration.md) (field **FAQ-Url Path**).

The page shows:

* optionally a **headline (h1)** and a **description text** (see [plugin configuration](/faq-fuer-seo/english-documentation/konfiguration.md))
* all **active groups** of the current sales channel, sorted by group position
* below each group its **questions**, sorted by question position, expandable and collapsible

Inactive groups, groups with **Only for category/product** and questions without a group are not shown.

Optionally the list can be displayed in **two columns**. A link to the FAQ page can be added to the **footer** automatically.

## Own page per question

Every question gets its own URL generated from the question text:

| Question                        | URL                                       |
| ------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| How long does shipping take?    | `/faq/how-long-does-shipping-take`        |
| Welche Größen gibt es für Hüte? | `/faq/welche-groessen-gibt-es-fuer-huete` |

German umlauts are transliterated (ä → ae, ö → oe, ü → ue, ß → ss), special characters are removed and spaces are replaced by hyphens.

The question page shows the complete FAQ with the requested question opened. The question page has its own **meta data**:

| Meta data        | Source                                                                                             |
| ---------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Page title | **Meta Title** of the question, otherwise the question text |
| Meta description | **Meta Description** of the question, otherwise the meta description from the plugin configuration |
| Meta keywords | **Keywords** of the question |
| Canonical | URL of the question itself |

The overview page uses the **Meta title** and **Meta description** from the [plugin configuration](/faq-fuer-seo/english-documentation/konfiguration.md).

> **Note:** Old question URLs from plugin versions before 4.2.0, where umlauts were removed instead of transliterated (e.g. `/faq/hufig-gestellte-frage`), are redirected to the new URL with a **301 redirect**.

## Sitemap

The FAQ overview page and all question pages are added to the Shopware **sitemap** automatically, each with change frequency "monthly". Active groups of the respective sales channel (or of all sales channels) are included, groups with **Only for category/product** are excluded.

## Structured data (schema.org)

On all pages with FAQs the plugin renders structured data of type **`FAQPage`** in JSON-LD format. Search engines such as Google can show questions and answers directly in the search results.

| Page                                   | Included questions                                                                             |
| -------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| FAQ overview page | all questions visible there |
| Question page | only the requested question |
| Category/product page with FAQ element | all questions of the FAQ elements on the page (also groups with **Only for category/product**) |

Example:

```json
{
  "@context": "https://schema.org",
  "@type": "FAQPage",
  "mainEntity": [
    {
      "@type": "Question",
      "name": "How long does shipping take?",
      "acceptedAnswer": {
        "@type": "Answer",
        "text": "<p>Usually <strong>1–3 working days</strong>.</p>"
      }
    }
  ]
}
```

The JSON-LD is located in the page source at the end of the `<body>`. You can check it e.g. with Google's [Rich Results Test](https://search.google.com/test/rich-results).
